Casablanca, Morocco — May 2026 — SEDCO CEO Majdi Shawish delivered a thought leadership session at the Innovation Zone during GITEX Future Health Africa 2026, highlighting how AI and telehealth are reshaping the future of outpatient care across Africa.
Held in Casablanca from 4–6 May 2026, GITEX Future Health Africa brought together healthcare leaders, innovators, policymakers, and technology providers to explore the future of digital health, AI, smart hospitals, telemedicine, and healthcare infrastructure.
During his session, titled “From Waiting Rooms to Connected Care: How AI and Telehealth Are Transforming the Outpatient Journey,” Shawish discussed how healthcare providers can move beyond fragmented, facility-based care toward connected patient journeys powered by AI, smart patient flow, self-service technologies, telehealth pods, and real-time business intelligence.
During the session, Shawish addressed some of the most pressing challenges facing healthcare systems today, including long waiting times, overcrowded facilities, limited specialist access beyond urban centers, fragmented physical and digital journeys, and operational inefficiencies. He emphasized that these challenges are not only capacity issues, but patient journey issues that require smarter, more connected models of care.
He highlighted the role of AI as a digital front door to healthcare, supporting patients before their visit through guidance, appointment scheduling, AI-powered triage, intelligent service routing, and reduced unnecessary visits. Inside the facility, SEDCO’s smart patient flow and queue management solutions help optimize movement, reduce waiting times, and improve the overall patient experience.
The session also explored the growing impact of telehealth and telehealth pods in expanding care access beyond hospital walls. By combining integrated vitals, AI triage, and remote consultations, telehealth pods can serve as scalable care access points for underserved communities, remote areas, and high-demand locations. Shawish concluded by showcasing how connected patient journey solutions, supported by real-time analytics and operational dashboards, enable hospitals to improve efficiency, identify bottlenecks, optimize resources, and deliver more patient-centered care.
Through its participation at GITEX Future Health Africa 2026, SEDCO reaffirmed its commitment to supporting healthcare providers across Africa with smart, integrated solutions that enhance patient access, improve operational performance, and help transform hospitals into connected care networks.
